One of my absolute favorite returning families met me this weekend at Conejo Valley Botanic Garden — a glowing, sunlit garden in Thousand Oaks with winding paths, wild grasses, oak groves, and pockets of magic everywhere you turn. They first came to me when they were expecting their first baby… and it has been such a joy to photograph their family story from the very beginning.
This garden was the perfect backdrop for their light + bright vision. It has delicate garden elements, beautiful long grasses that shimmer in the afternoon light, and those grand old oak trees that feel like something out of a fairytale. The whole space feels organic, whimsical, peaceful — like nature is telling its own story.
The sunlight crept through the branches and landed on the children’s hair like gold foil. Everything was soft and natural and radiant — exactly what this family loves and exactly why I recommend Conejo Valley Botanic Garden to any family looking for a light-filled, airy, classic outdoor location in Southern California.
If you’re dreaming of family photos that feel timeless, sun-drenched, full of natural beauty, and a little bit like a storybook page — Conejo Valley Botanic Garden is absolutely a place I’d choose for you, too.
