I traveled up to Palo Alto for this in-home newborn session with first-time parents who found me through a friend — and right away I loved the environment they created for their baby. Their home was modern, bright, calm, intentional — the perfect canvas for an organic newborn session.
One of my favorite little surprises was the music they had playing softly in the background. They had house music playing throughout the morning, and it gave the whole session a rhythm. It set such a playful, gentle tone — I actually composed my own music for their heirloom newborn film because the vibe was so inspiring. It felt like we were creating inside a soundtrack. It even inspired me to compose an original piece for their newborn film — so the video doesn’t just show their little girl, it carries the energy of that day. The whole session had this dreamy, cinematic energy — relaxed, natural, and true to who they are.
And another sweet inspiration moment… they love the whimsical world of Totoro. So we incorporated subtle Totoro nods into the session styling — delicate, imaginative, and just enough magic to honor what they love without overwhelming the pure beauty of their baby.
Sessions like this remind me why I love in-home newborn photography — when a family’s taste + environment becomes part of the art.
