Welcome to A Worthy Treasure! It’s been a long journey to get to the launch of my new podcast! Thank you for supporting me through the journey of starting this ministry! Some of you have been following along with me since the beginning of 2021 to 2022, some even from 2020. Thank you so much. As we are on a journey together with this ministry, I want to be able to share my heart as well as scriptures, studies to help all my listeners and followers to get to a place of devoted worship to Jesus.
THE VISION & STORY BEHIND A WORTHY TREASURE’S MINISTRY
The vision behind this ministry is all about helping believers, no matter where you are in your walk, grow in your passion and devotion for Jesus. If you’re not a christian, my hope is that these stories are inspiring and make you want to know more about who Jesus is for your life.
Here’s what you can expect to see as we dive deep into the Word together.
1. Devotionals and studies on how to deepen our devotion and affections by making Jesus our “First Love”.
2. Learning how to be devoted disciples and then make disciples, which is the great commission given to us by Jesus in Matthew 28: 16-20 by studying scripture, and applying it to our lives.
3. Being bold Christians, by believing God in His Word and Hearing from the Holy Spirit as we serve the Lord well.
There will be a few ways that we accomplish this.
1. Studying worship history, history of the church and worship
2. Digging deep into God’s Word and uncovering who He is. What does God delight in and what Does He say about worship in scripture?
3. Talk about modern worship and how worship songs are currently written and what we should be looking for in.
4. Talk about What its like to worship in Spirit and in truth
5. Testimonies of modern missionaries or “the saints” (which is also worship).
WHAT DO WE WANT TO LEARN FROM THIS PODCAST?
As this podcast grows, the greatest thing you can takeaway is that God calls us to be full-time worshipers. How do we do that? It’s through devotion, affection, and obedience. And that is where my faith story began…. and where so many other stories start. We will look at worship all throughout scripture as well as modern day worshipers and how we can also grow into mature (and wild) worshipers of God. But what’s even better than hearing about my stories, is hearing about God’s stories and what He’s done. So, over the next few months, I’ll talk about what God is doing and what He is doing right now. I also have a series on modern missionaries, sharing their stories about how God called them from their past lives, and what He called them into, and what He is doing through them today. From there, I want to have discussions of real-life situations and how we can align our hearts to God’s word in how we make decisions. When we make those decisions in an act of surrender and obedience, it will shift our hearts to living a lifestyle of worship.
What is a ROMANS 12 WORSHIPER :
Over this past year, the Lord has shifted my heart to understand what He desires worship to look like. It’s really interesting because for most of my life, I saw worship as singing and playing music at church and bible studies. But it’s been a pretty radical change for me this past year, to have heard that worship is more than singing, it’s devotion. Worship is turning the affections of your heart to be fully focused on Jesus. Right now, I do my best to find time to worship Jesus every day, even if it’s a few minutes, I make sure that I set aside time for that connection with Him.
The Lord has really shifted my heart to what He desires worship to be. He began to turn my heart to understand that His deepest desire is Faith, Obedience, & Sacrifice. God began to strip away all of my levels of excellence and performance He said, “I don’t want your performance, I want your heart.” It broke me down to look at the core of what worship really is. All through 2020 & 2021, the Lord kept leading me back to Romans 12.
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:1-2
TESTIMONY OF BECOMING A MISsiONARY
Now, some of you may know, or some of you may not. This past year I stepped away from a 13 year career as a wedding photographer to become a missionary. The story starts at the beginning of 2021 with a quiet moment and a prayer journal. I heard the Lord say, “Tif, I need you.” That was it. I heard the call and I responded. My husband and I were fully in sync… yes this is the time. We have to listen. I mean, if the Lord says “go”, you go, right? Well, suffice to say, there was no plan beyond the Yes. I fully jumped out of a moving train and crash landed into full wilderness. I mean, if I had to come up with a better analogy, I don’t think I could. Except that maybe it was dark, with no moon and stars, and Ididn’t have any supplies to survive. In the natural, it was a set up for death and failure.
That march of 2021, I spoke to my business partner about leaving the business we had built for 13 years to follow that word from the Lord. This was really hard for both of us. I believe that it took everything that we had as I handed over my portion of business to her for the rest of the year. We finalized and cut the whole business to the core. It was so heartbreaking to think that the beauty of what we built together had ended in that season.
I walked through so much heartache and grief that I did not expect. I cried and cried in what I called the dark cold room, waiting for instruction from the Lord. I waited, prayed, journaled, wrote… cried some more, and listened quietly for His instructions. As the Lord waited in that dark room with me, we anticipated for the morning to dawn. While it was still dark, we dreamed together. Jesus and I talked about what a ministry might look like and who we want to reach. We researched together. We discovered that encouragement is desperately needed. And not just “the feel good” kind. The kind that cuts deep, so that we can thrive. And that is where A Worthy Treasure was born.
There is so much more to share, but I hope that you enjoyed the first podcast, and can’t wait for you to come back!
